This is the Wedgwood monument in Staffordshire, commemorating a local colliery owner rather than the better-known potter family.
On its sides are written the names of those whose lives are only dimly perceived by us slumberers: Elvis, Bruno (Giordano one assumes), the god Pan and the shadowy Baxter.
